Description

Organic Hibiscus is a large genus of flowering plants, growing primarily in tropical and subtropical regions, whose flowers are used for a wide range of medicinal purposes and edible products ranging from making jams and jellies to lowering blood pressure, aiding in weight loss, reducing cholesterol and, in some cases, treating cancer. Flowers from the Hibiscus sabdariffa are generally consumed by brewing a medicinal tea or eaten in salads. Like many herbal preparations, however, healing properties and potentially hazardous side effects are associated with the consumption of the plant. Certain precautions should be taken.

Medicinal Uses – Organic Hibiscus flowers, roots and leaves, are anodyne and emmenagogue. They regulate menstruation and stimulate blood circulation. Flower extract has been traditionally used for liver disorders, high blood pressure and as an aphrodisiac. Young leaves and flowers are used in case of headache. Decoction of leaves, root and flower are helpful in treatments of arthritis, boils and coughs, and the flower is used externally in cases of sprains, wounds and ulcers. Hibiscus tea is rich in Vitamin C.

Other Uses – In foods and beverages, hibiscus is used as a flavouring. It is also used to improve the odour, flavour, or appearance of tea mixtures.
Organic Hibiscus tea benefits are only now being discovered the world over although places in Asia have long known about it.

Organic Hibiscus tea is made from the hibiscus flower called Hibiscus sabdariffa. Hibiscus tea comes from the genus Hibiscus, in the mallow family (Malvaceae), and is native to warm, temperate and tropical regions. A recent study revealed that hibiscus tea contains a number of different antioxidants that may help to protect against cell-damaging free radicals. These teas also may help control high blood pressure.

There are several teas that contain hibiscus, among them are: sour tea, red zinger tea, and sorrel tea.

Here are some of the health benefits that have been discovered:

Lowers blood pressure
Good for lowering high cholesterol
Strengthens the immune system as it is rich in Vitamin C
